I had the idea for this Choco Banana variant a couple of months ago, but only just got around to trying it out. The rules are probably a bit too strong and could maybe do without the diagonal adjacency part, but sometimes it’s fun to solve a puzzle that mostly flows from a genre’s “passive” rules instead of clues.
Just to clarify, R4C10 is a hole in the grid. It is considered neither shaded nor unshaded. These rules don’t give a lot of control over the solve path, and I found this setup which resolves in a really nice way but broke in the top right corner, so this seemed like a reasonable fix.
Rules: Shade some cells such that all shaded areas are rectangular and all unshaded areas contain exactly five cells. Clues must be unshaded and indicate the shape of the area they are in. Unshaded areas which touch at a point cannot have the same shape, including reflections and rotations.
