#168: Pentominous / FiveCells

Wessel and I made another puzzle together by taking turns adding clues to the grid.

There was no particular occasion this time, we just felt like doing this again. We were initially going to make a Pentominous/Square Jam hybrid and while that seemed like a promising ruleset, it felt very unsuitable for this process, so we started over.

This one took a lot longer to put together than the previous one (we started working on this in late May), and you will probably see why when you’re solving it.

Rules: Divide the grid into regions of five orthogonally connected cells so that no two regions of the same shape share an edge, counting rotations and reflections as the same.

Letter clues must belong to a region with the pentomino shape associated with that letter.

Number clues must have the indicated number of region borders or grid borders surrounding them.
